OK, I'll go ahead and say it.

I *like* the teal coat

First, I do like the color. I was expecting some puketastic garish green blue color, but this is actually nice. Lexual said it was more turquoise, and I'd have to agree. But he's a boy, so to him, all those type of not quite blue colors fall under one heading--teal. :D

Second--The jacket has nice, clean lines. And it hangs on him well. And I like nothing more than a well hanging trench on a man.

Last--Although it is a tiny bit big (and I can't fault anyone for buying a winter coat a smidge too big, because you never know how many layers you'll have to wear underneath it) it does for the most part actually *fit* him. This is a marked improvement from most of his jackets, which to me look like he outgrew them about three years ago and doesn't realize it. They sort of fit, but they don't fit well. This one fits a little better.

Oh, and he's wearing a little scarf. I do find men wearing those little scarves to be adorable for some reason.

So if I were Mrs. Michael, I'd let him out of the house wearing the coat. In fact, I'd do my wifely duty and find him a hat that is a better match for the cost (stylewise, not color-wise.) Because the Trick Daddy "I'm A Thug" hat and glasses aren't working for me.

But I like the coat just fine. :) It's a little pimptastic, but hey--if I had to pick my fave 1970's stereotype, pimps are at the top of the list. Or like Chris Rock says about pimps, "That's not a crime. That's a gift! That's a super-power!"

I miss the Chris Rock show. As much as me and Cynthia tease him for being ghetto, I like the coat. I think the hat and glasses are giving it a more thuggish look though especially the glasses.

Ladies,

You both know perfectly well that when the three of us move to Utah and collectively marry Michael that the Luthor Love In The Mist Blue Coat is going to be history. Do you really want to be in the small appliances section at Walmart with Mr. Rosenbaum in that outfit?

Well, so do I, so I guess the coat can stay after all, but that hat! Shannen - isn't there another style I could buy and send to him as a New Year's Present?

Do you really want to be in the small appliances section at Walmart with Mr. Rosenbaum in that outfit?

I want to be in the small appliances section at Walmart with Mr. Rosenbaum in *any* outfit. Even one of Bootsie Collins's hideous ensembles.

Hmmm. I'm still thinking about this. But just off the top of my head...

One, ditch the sunglasses. Presumably, the teal/turquoise/whatever color that is brings out Rosey's eyes (rrrowr), so why cover them up?

Two, switch from a gray to a black scarf. Much better contrast with the coat.

Three, new hat, most definitely. Problem: nearly every style is going to be dorky (newsboy-style "driving" cap) or pimpish (backwards Kangol, fedora). I'm voting for fedora, just because it's more stylish, as in "I have a style and look I'm going for, here, it's not just random."

just because it's more stylish, as in "I have a style and look I'm going for, here, it's not just random."

I firmly believe that males dress randomly in order to make it totally obvious that they are available. I think this is done unconsciously, of course. But it is true none-the-less.

I totally agree. My brother just got engaged recently, and he's dressing very nicely. You know why? His fiancee dresses him.

Hee! I've long thought that someone needs to revive the Garanimals clothing concept and market it to men. You'd be rolling in money.

I have no problem with the coat. The ensemble leaves much to be desired, but the individual pieces are all just fine.

*sigh*

He's so cute.

Oh vey, I had to delete someone from my friend's list because of that damn jacket. This is really sad, folks. Some people just don't get jokes.

Hee! Look at my jacket icon! Whee! Hehehe.

Friendships lost over a blue coat. Very sad indeed.

Tsk, tsk. Michael and his teal trenchcoat. Coming between people the world over. LOL!

I just hope it wasn't someone you consider a good, good friend or anything.

Oh no, it wasn't like I was close to them like you, Mei or Rhi.

I like the coat, too. The color is really nice and like you said, it's Versace so it has nice lines.

I ponder, is it scarier that Versace would make that coat, or scarier that someone would buy it?

Hmm....

But no, I like it. Obviously he isn't worried about flying under the radar and getting noticed by people.

Well, Donatella herself is so scary, nothing she designs gives me a wiggins anymore. *g*
