Wow--it's like getting a new computer

I just threw out a *shitload* of Michael pics and video clips off my hard drive.

So, you know, if you're looking for a Michael pic of some sort....well, I in general don't have it anymore. I did keep some of the ones I *really* liked and burned them to a CD, although I don't know what I'll do with them after that other than let them collect dust.

But my computer, which had been being all sluggish and bitchy, is running a lot smoother now. I guess I had it overloaded with stuff.

So lugging the recycle bin out wasn't a bad move at all, considering I need to start prepping my dinosaur for Sims 2.

All of that stuff will stay the same. I mean, the we never got news or anything from Michael, so we never really broke any news--you could get the same info and get it faster by visiting places like K-site or DTS or TWoP. We didn't usually post news until days or weeks after those sites anyway.

The only thing that will probably change is there won't be new articles or interviews added to the site. I got a cease and desist letter from Titan Publishing this spring after I posted the interview from the SV Yearbook, so now we're on the radar, and therefore I can't really risk adding any new articles or interviews unless they were original content by the site, and I don't predict that happening. Same thing with the pictures--I was planning on doing some updating, but since we don't own any of the pictures, I'm not doing that.

I'm not dropping out completely, I guess....just no longer making Michael as high of a priority for me.

Did the mohawk chase you away for good? :(

Well, you're stuck with me as a friend - if that's okay with you - whether you stay with Mikey or not. You're a sweet person and I really like you, so there. *g*

I guess I had it overloaded with stuff.

Heh, I never knew Mike weighed so much. *g*

Nah...mostly it was SV spoilers. There's a lot of stuff going on in the show that I don't want to see, and since those two fandoms are so interconnected, it's hard to be a part of one without the other.

And, some frustration with website stuff--it seemed like people were always looking to me to have info, and quite frankly--I don't have it anymore. There doesn't seem to be much of a point in continuing in that capacity when others do it a lot better.

Like I told DarkCherry...I'm not dropping Michael completely. Just scaling way, way back. Back to the point where it's not priority one for me anymore.

You could *probably* offload some of that stuff to people Out There, the burned to CD stuff I mean. Just put out a fannish APB to anybody who wants it. I'm sure you'll get takers.

Well, they're stuff people already have--just files from mr.com and stuff.

I mainly did the cleaning to give my poor dinosaur computer a break. I'm gonna be shocking the hell out of it in a couple of months when Sims 2 comes out. I'm not sure she's ready for it.

First off, I can't believe they gave you a hard time about that. That's ridiculous. It's a FAN site for cripes sake! Most fanish activity is technically copyright infringement, but it's part of fandom, and fandom contributes to sales and ratings, so everyone turns a blind eye, especially given that the fans aren't making money off of the images and such. But I'm wondering why the site couldn't generate original content? Is it because MR won't do interviews for the fansite, or because no one from the site wants to interview him? If you really want content for the site, I'm sure we could arrange something. (And if you don't feel like messing with it anymore, that's cool too.) :)

And as far as the New Casual Fan Shannen thing goes, I think you should do whatever makes you happy. You don't have to do anything you don't want to. In fact, you shouldn't feel pressured to do anything at all except what makes you happy. Fandom is supposed to be a hobby - something you enjoy. If you aren't having fun doing it anymore, then don't. Anyone who would defriend you because you aren't providing them with something they want is just a hanger-on anyhow, and you don't need them. I met you through SV fandom, but I friended you when I got my LJ account because I think you are smart and sweet and funny, and I'm glad to know you. I always enjoy reading your posts and keeping track of you, even though I know you don't read mine. I won't be defriending you anytime soon, whether you are Miss Informative UberFan or not.

Oh, and those SV spoilers? Really suck. I'm debating wether to watch anymore myself.

Yeah, it was strange. It worried me because I had a few other articles from magazines from that same publisher, and they just focused on that one specifically. I'm suspecting someone had to have turned us in, because we've had articles up there for three years and this is the first that was said.

I've asked Michael a few times to do little email interviews, but he's declined. I'm guessing he doesn't like me, or the website--or possibly both--very much.
