Lessons Learning...

I've decided that my goals to work on need to be:

*Learning to just let things go. Accept that stuff passes in and out of your life.

*Learning to do things that I want to do by myself. This is kind of a biggie, because while some things I *can* do by myself if I want to bad enough (like going to see a movie I really want to see) most things, I pass by because I don't have anyone to do them with. For example, I never go out to eat because I can't find anyone to go with me. And there are all kinds of places I'd like to visit, but don't because I don't want to go alone.

But I need to get over that. So I need to start small...maybe visit someplace here in town that I've always wanted to go, or maybe even at some point schedule myself on an out of town visit to Cincy or something like that.

I just figure, it's gonna be just me for the rest of my life, and if I sit around and wait until someone wants to do something with me, I'm gonna miss out on a lot of stuff I want to do.

I went thru that some. I started going to places that have a bar and eating at the bar. Chilis, TGIFridays, even Olive Garden.

It also helped when I found the meetup.com website. Then I just looked thru their calendar for things I might enjoy and went, it was a group thing.

Have you tried Craigslist? At least in NYC, there are tons of activity pals listings to go to museums, concerts, musicals, etc. There are also general interest sections for folks that share interest in certain teams, places or restaurants. If you can make friends at conventions, you can make them around your home as well.

You and I just need to live in the same city :P I'll come back up and visit you again and we can go to the hippie bar and both look like we belong there! *hugs*
