Writer's Block: Celebrating Friendships
chris mens journal
Over the past ten years, many friendships have started and/or been renewed on LiveJournal. Of your current LJ friends, who have you known the longest?

Kind of a neat question. I think the person I've known the longest on my list is smoo_nyc Shar and I met way, way, way back in the day...I think it was Roswell fandom? Wow, that was a long time ago. And we both kinda migrated to Smallville fandom, and she got me into Harry Potter (not the fandom, but into the books) and now she dabbles in SPN fandom and I'm already there so....there ya go! Even though we mostly move in different fandoms, we've still stayed friends!

But we've known each other a long time, and she was there the first time I met Michael Rosenbaum, she and I went to Jensen's play together, so we've always been good traveling buddies! Oh, and the thing I will always remember was when she was in Time Magazine (or was it Newsweek? No, I think it was Time!) dressed in her Hogwarts uniform for a Harry Potter book release party! Whee!

And, looking over my friends list, I have to say I'm super happy that I've retained a core group of friends that I've had since Smallville's first season--folks like aleora, georgia_s_brown,drkcherry, mei_x, suzycat, and fleegull. Even though we've all kind of shifted around into different fandoms, they've never dumped me off, nor I them. I still read all their entries, and I still get excited for them when something really cool happens for them, or sad for them when something goes wrong. I do hope we'll be friends always!!

God, I still remember reading the reports from the first time you met Rosenbaum and his reaction to his present and everything. It was the time I realised how much happiness fandom could create. Of course now I am cynical and know much more about wank than I did in those days, but even so. All the posts on TWoP about the event and everyone's level of joyous squee was just so lovely.

And I am so glad to still have you on my flist too!
