Just got back from seeing The Dark Knight, and dude....everyone *has* to see this movie!

I went to the 11:15 show, the theater was so packed that I had to sit in like the second row, all the way to the left...and even with the neck strain, the movie was awesomecakes. I did get a headache from the action sequences just because I was so close to the screen, but it was still awesome.

Everyone's all aglow with praise for Heath Ledger, and he did do a fabulous job--I think the greatest thing an actor can do is make you forget you're watching an actor, and he did that. I had to remind myself several times that it was Heath Ledger, because he so totally became The Joker. I mean, as much love as I have for the Michael Keaton/Tim Burton Batman, I never really forgot it was Jack Nicholson playing a role. Not so this time.

That said, I think the real prize in this film is Aaron Eckhart. His Harvey Dent had me intrigued the whole way, and it made me want to slap Tommy Lee Jones for his ham fisted version of the character.

And thank God for the recasting of Rachel! I'm no huge Maggie Gyllenhaal fan, but she ran circles around Katie Holmes. In fact, one of the things I hated about Batman Begins was Rachel, because of the irritating Joey Potterness Katie seems to bring to all her roles. So this was a great change.

Overall, I liked it much better than the Batman Begins, that's for sure.

Oh, and Christian Bale was hot, and Morgan Freeman had the line of the movie!

Oh, and I did want to bitchsmack the audience for not appreciating the trailers--I mean, I'm practically vibrating in my seat with excitement about the Terminator trailer, and The Watchmen trailer, and everyone else was just lazily shoving popcorn in their maws. But, they came through during the movie, applauding during a few parts, and giving it a standing ovation at the end.

So yes, go see this! It deserves to be seen on the big screen. I'd love to see it again in IMAX.

I'm not into comics and superheroes, but I loved The Dark Knight. I can't wait to see it again...
